The 2017-18 season’s Dune2Dune wil take place this New Year’s Eve . Coined by the professional triathletes such as Amanda Wilson , Luke Whitmore and Monty Frankish as the best triathlon in Victoria . This year’s race is sponsored by previous winner and previous Melbourne Marathon winner Magnus Michelson and 32GI . The race offers two different distance options of 600m/18k/3.6km and 1.2km/36km/9.6km . In the long event competitors do a 2 lap swim with short run ITU style in the middle except along the sand . The swim is held in the usual tranquil waters of the Bay Beach at Cape Paterson . The ride takes in the iconic section of the Bass Coast between Cape Paterson and the Flat Rocks area of Inverloch . The run is a mixture of beach trail and paths with a 400m finish on the sand to wind things up . The race still retains its country roots and entry prices $70 for short course and $80 for long course . Individual and team entries are available . The forecast for Sunday is for mild temperatures and light winds , perfect racing conditions . What better way to end the year. Enter on line before Friday midnight to avoid the $20 late fee for on the day entries .
