Anderson Inlet turned it on for the start of the Alex Scott Triathlon Series of 2013-14 . With a slack high tide and blues skies it was a perfect start to the Barracudas summer season for the Voyage Fitness Anderson Inlet Triathlon . A record field of 62 starters entered the water . The unusual lack of current and clear water made for one of the fairest swims in recent years . A moderate Easterly breeze made for a fast outward bike leg to Cape Paterson , with Barracuda Keith Colomb leading to the turn .
Young Matt Sullivan , who has made big improvements , and Keith slugged out into the headwind back to Inverloch with them both hitting the final transition together . In the end it was Keith Colomb , who was too strong on the run taking out the event in a time of 1:04:53 . A fast finishing Paul Taylor came in second with Matt Sullivan coming in 3rd just ahead of Sam Beveridge.
In the women’s filed it was Barracuda Raeleigh Harris fresh off an age group win at the Shepparton 70.3 who lead the field in despite puncturing on the bike . Her presence in the club will certainly be missed when she leave for Canada in the near future . Coming in 2nd was Paula Charlton with another Barracuda , Michelle Harris , finishing fast for 3rd.
Presentation were held in the Esplanade Hotel following the event . The Barracudas would like to thank all entrants for supporting the event . We would also like to thank all the volunteers that make our event possible including the SES , Inverloch Life Saving Club ,the Cape crew . Thanks to our race sponsor Voyage Fitness , series sponsor Alex Scott and long time sponsor Crossover Cycles.
See you all on the 29th December at Cape Paterson for the Dune2Dune.
