The Barracuda long distance crew took on the weather today in the Geelong 70.3, most of them using at as a warm up  for the Melbourne  ironman in 6 weeks . They were greeted by a morning that didn’t look too bad , just a bit of swim into the Corio bay chop , and a warming northerly fo 10 plus knots. By the time they were on the bike course temperatures peaked at 37 degrees , and the Norwester gusting to 30 knots  . A westerly change brought a welcome change in the air temperatures but at its peak was gusting to 40 knots making even running into it difficult .
Keith Colomb had an outstanding breaking 5 hours in the testing conditions with a 5th overall in his age group and 36th outright. Chris Scammell put in a solid performance finishing in 5:20 . Rick Whitehouse made an 11 minute improvement over his run time in the recent Canberra event .
