Entries are Open for the 2014-2015 Alex Scott Series with this season will feature the Tenth running of the Dune2Dune Triathlon at Cape Paterson. The Dune2Dune was first held in December 2005 , organized by some locals who were at the time members of the Latrobe Valley Triathlon Club . The course starts with a swim in the ‘protected’ waters of the Cape Paterson bay with a short stretch of sand for competitors in the long course( allowing spectators an ITU style view) event to get to their second lap . The original bike course took competitors into Wonthaggi turning left at the main roundabout in town and came back to the Cape Road via Cameron St. With the formation of the Bass Coast Triathlon Club and the invasion of a fast food outlet near the main roundabout the newly formed club applied to have the bike course moved to the spectacular coastal route it now takes today . In earlier years the race finish was on the sand in front of the Life saving Club. The run course has undergone various modifications over the years to improve safety and simplify lap counting , but has always included the coastal track at Cape , the run down the boat ramp and the 200m stretch of sand the just saps your legs a bit at the end.
