Wow! What a special day we have all just experienced!!

From all members of the Keeping Kids On Track Funrun Committee for 2015, we hope that all participants and others cheering on their families and friends today enjoyed the KKOT 2015 Funrun Festival.

To everyone who has made it possible, we have attempted to thank you personally, so I will keep this brief, but to our SPONSORS, VOLUNTEERS, MC, 3mfm providing music, all the sports clubs representing themselves at the festival, the food stalls and entertainment, BAND, Fiona’s warm-up, our awesome ambassador MAGNUS, PIGGY from Bendigo Bank, and most of all to the ATHLETES who made today the success that it was!  The atmosphere was fantastic, and apart from the head-wind coming towards the finish-line, the weather was pretty spot-on also!

All funds from this event are donated to local sporting organisations that advocate sport, education and healthy lifestyle choices.  Organisations that have benefited from the past 3 events include: Wonthaggi Little Athletics, Bass Coast Board Riders, Wonthaggi Underwater Hockey Club, Inverloch Wind Surging Club, Wonthaggi Basketball Association, local Nippers Surf Lifesaving programs (Wonthaggi, Cape Paterson and Inverloch), Bass Coast Specialist School, Wonthaggi Library Loan Scheme, Wonthaggi SES.  So thankyou for supporting us again this year, so that we can continue to support sporting organisations in our local community!  We have also annually donated to the Kongor School Support Group, a locally founded charity raising funds to build a primary school in South Sudan.

So from all of us, without you guys ‘following this event’, supporting us all, and being there on the day, it would not be what it was, so THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU.  Follow us on facebook: ‘Keeping KIDS on TRACK’ to stay up to date for next year.

And don’t stop now, whatever training you have done to get to that finish line today, keep it up – making healthy lifestyle choices is what we are promoting to our youth, but it is important at any age!

So don’t stop RUNNING!

Till next year xxx

Memo to all Bass Coast Barracuda’s:

I am aware that the tri club don’t really compete much over the Winter and i would like to bring your attention to a couple of running groups to keep you fit over the Winter.

The Bass Coast Runners is a social running group of around 100 locals of various abilities who have an organised run of between 2KM up to 40KM each Sunday starting at 10.30am. It is not a competition but a running support group aimed at encouraging, supporting and improving the running abilities of all involved. The bass Coast Runners would be a good training environment for any triathlete.

South Coast Athletics is looking for Men, Women & Children to join them

in the 2015 XCR Series. The XCR series would be a great competition for triathletes to hone and improve their running over the Winter.

We take runners of any ability: from sub 3 minute Km runners up to 7 minute Km runners. Everyone will be competitive as the races are all graded.

The series is made up of 3 Cross Country races, 3 Road Races, 2 Cross

Country Relays and 2 Road Race relays. You don’t have to commit to every

race, you can elect to do only the ones that appeal to you.

It is a strong competition and there is no better training than good competition.

Running is primarily an individual past-time but the Team running element adds a new

dimension to your running. Interested or curious runners should contact Steve Plumb on 56724299 or

for further information.

Entry costs, which include professional timing, are set out below:

21.1km – $55.00 (includes singlet / Tshirt)

15km – $55.00 (includes singlet / Tshirt)

10km – $30.00

5km – $20.00

3km (untimed) – $10.00

**We encourage athletes to enter PRIOR to the event online; there will be a late fee charged for on-the-day entries and we cannot guarantee entry if organizers deem that the field limit has been reached.

Tshirts and singlets will be available for purchase on the day (we hope to have children’s sizes available also).

All funds raised from the event are donated to local community organisations in the Bass Coast that advocate a healthy lifestyle through participation in sport, and education of our youth.  Beneficiaries from last year’s event included Wonthaggi Little Athletics Club, Bass Coast Specialist School, the 3 local Nippers Surf Lifesaving programs (Wonthaggi, Cape Paterson and Inverloch), Bass Coast Board Riders, Wonthaggi Basketball Association, Inverloch Wind Surfing Club, and several more.  A donation is also made each year to the Kongor school support group, a locally founded charity raising funds to build a primary school in South Sudan.
